Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, a Republican, addressed members of the Virginia Capitol Correspondents Association on Wednesday night at their annual dinner.
During the event in Richmond, two journalists who reported on Virginia politics and government for decades were inducted into the group’s Hall of Fame.
Tyler Whitley was the dean of the Capitol press corps when he retired from the Richmond Times-Dispatch in 2011. Five Virginia governors attended a December 2010 celebration marking Whitley’s first 50 years with Richmond newspapers.
Also honored was Jim Babb, the former veteran state Capitol reporter for WWBT. Babb’s tenure spanned six governors, 21 legislative sessions and eight national political conventions.
