Update: VPAP Elections Initiative
Date: 05/18/2009
The minute polls close, we all become election analysts. We go online for the latest returns. We scrutinize precinct results to see how our neighbors voted.
Then -- just as fast -- our interest evaporates. The results are archived, and each subsequent election is treated as a separate, distinct event.
We think there is a better way to organize election results. VPAP's Elections Initiative will present elections as interconnected events. This approach will empower the public to compare the results of one election to another and understand how turnout affects the outcome.
The Elections Initiative features a map interface that allows the public to visualize election results in a way not possible with rows and columns.
