shareUpdate: Fewer Free Passes in 2009 House Elections

Here is VPAP's unofficial tally of the 100 House of Delegates seats that will be contested and uncontested in November:
2009 2007 2005
- Contested Elections 69 41 49
- Uncontested Elections 31 59 51
The 2009 numbers could change when the State Board of Elections releases an official list of candidates who qualified for the November 3 ballot. The official list is expected next week.
Earlier today, VPAP added eight names to its unofficial candidate list.
VPAP has posted information on 8 new House of Delegates candidates:
- District 10 - Edward Creed - R (Armstrong)
- District 30 - Matthew Carson - I (Scott)
- District 39 - Matthew Cholko - I (Watts)
- District 45 - Vicki Vasques - R (Englin)
- District 47 - Eric Brescia - R (Open Seat)
- District 63 - Susan McCammon - R (Dance)
- District 69 - L. Shirley Harvey - I (Open Seat)
- District 100 - Melody Scalley - R (Lewis)
Candidates must file with the Virginia State Board of Elections in order to raise money for elected office; however, registration does not necessarily mean a candidate will qualify for the ballot.
