Update: New VPAP Board Members

The nonprofit Virginia Public Access Project Board of Directors has named new three members to three-year terms:
- Austin Ligon is the co-founded and retired CEO of CarMax, a publicly traded nationwide auto retailer.
- Dawn Farrar Siegel is a former political fundraiser whose clients included Gov. Tim Kaine.
- Cal Whitehead is a lobbyist who runs a Richmond firm that bears his name.
Founded in 1997, VPAP is a nonpartisan group that works to improve public understanding of money in Virginia politics.
The new members replace three long-serving board members: Steve Haner, Forrest “Frosty” Landon, Stewart Schwartz.Landon, a retired executive editor of the Roanoke Times and founder of the Virginia Coalition for Open Government, was a founding board member of VPAP in 1996 and held leadership roles throughout his tenure.
Anne Gambardella, a lobbyist with the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association, was re-elected to a second three-year term.
The VPAP Board also elected a slate of officers for 2010:
- Jay Smith (president) is a partner in Capital Results, a public affairs firm based in Richmond
- Keith Hare (vice-chair/secretary) is Director of Governmental Affairs with the Medical Society of Virginia
- Jeffrey Merriman (treasurer) is Manager of Economic Development & Govt Affairs for Verizon.
