It’s good to be the governor — even in bad times. Bob McDonnell had a lousy election day. He failed to deliver Virginia for Mitt Romney. George Allen was defeated for Senate, again. Republican strongholds, such as Chesterfield County, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, looked less so. The morning after, McDonnell — because he’s great with a script — stuck with his: Republicans still have a credible message. The packaging is wrong.
