Fairfax County Chair
The outcome of the 11th District congressional race could trigger one or more special elections in Fairfax County. Should Fairfax Supervisors Chairman Gerry Connolly win, a special election would be held to select a new top elected official in Fairfax County government. Two current members of the Board of Supevisors -- Sharon Bulova and Patrick Herrity -- are among those names mentioned as possible candidates in a potential special election for board chair.
A little-known state law could provide a preview of money in a possible Bulova-Herrity match up. The law states says that the campaign committee of any sitting county supervisor that receives $500 or more during a non-election year must disclose the donor's name and amount within 15 business days.
Since July 1, Bulova has reported 25 donations totalling $22,630 and Herrity has reported 30 donations totalling $44,500.
