New State Candidates
VPAP has posted and will soon announce the following new candidates, who recently filed paperwork with the State Board of Elections to raise money for the following offices.
Lt. Governor
- Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, a former state senator and spouse of ex-congressman Tom Davis, has become the fifth Republican candidate for lieutenant governor. Other GOP candidates are Scott Lingamfelter, Steve Martin, Corey Stewart, and Susan Stimpson. The only announced Democratic candidate is Aneesh Chopra.
House of Delegates
- Jennifer Boysko (Democrat) is running for House District 86, which straddles the Fairfax-Loudoun line. The district is currently represented by incumbent Republican Tom Rust, who was first elected in 2002.
- Daun Hester (Democrat), a former Norfolk City councilwoman, is challenging Lionell Spruill Jr. for the Democratic nomination in a special election to fill the seat of Kenny Alexander, who recently won a seat in the State Senate.

The AMAZING Raise
VPAP raised nearly
$9,000-- including a $2,500 early-bird prize -- during the 36-hour Amazing Raise. Thank you to the 114 VPAP fans who made an online donation! Thanks also to Dixie Donuts for hosting the kick-off party on the morning of September 19.
VPAP will invest the money in its Tools for Transparency for Virginia politics.

Beach Light-Rail PAC Tops $220K
Move Hampton Roads has raised more than $220,000 to support passage of a light rail ballot initiative in Virginia Beach this November.
Through August 31, Move Hampton Roads has spent more than $150,000 in a marketing campaign to gain support for the nonbinding vote on November 6. Expenses include a website, online ads and TV advertisements.
Opponents of the light rail have not formed a PAC at this time.
Move Hampton Roads is seeking to build upon the success of Norfolkâs light rail, the Tide, to extend passenger service into Virginia Beach.
