Summary

As Introduced. Voter registration; extended time for new citizens to register to vote.

Provides that any person who becomes a citizen during the period immediately following the close of registration records pursuant to § 24.2-416 and the day of the election and is otherwise qualified to vote shall be entitled to register to vote up to and including the day of the election. The bill requires the Department of Elections to prescribe procedures for the addition to the lists of registered voters of persons registered under the provisions of the bill. (Less)
