Summary

As Introduced. Threats of death or bodily injury to a person or member of his family by telephone or wireless communication device; penalty.

Provides that any person who communicates a threat over any telephone or wireless communications device to kill or do bodily injury to a person, regarding that person or any member of his family, and the threat places such person in reasonable apprehension of death or bodily injury to himself or his family member, is guilty of a Class 6 felony. The bill also provides that any person convicted of communicating threats (i) of death or bodily injury to a person or member of his family or (ii) to commit serious bodily harm to persons on school property may be ordered by the court to make restitution as the court deems appropriate to any person who has suffered a loss as a result of the offense.
