The incoming class of legislators who will be sworn in next month will lead to tiny shifts in the demographics of the 140 men and women who represent Virginia's 8.3 million residents. The 18 tend to be younger and more likely to be female. One-third were elected without opposition. VPAP has a new tool to help you get to know the new members.
VPAP has a tool that allows you to look at the new members by demographics, including:
WOMEN: The number of female legislators will increase from 24 (17%) to 27 (19%)
PEOPLE 45 AND YOUNGER: The number of legislators 45 and under will increase from 30 (21%) to 36 (26%)
