TV Buys: Gillespie pulls even for week of Oct 16-22


After being outspent for several weeks, Republican Ed Gillespie this week is matching Democrat Ralph Northam in TV ad buys in the state's four largest broadcast markets, new data shows.

The two candidates for Governor are spending a combined $3 million dollars this week, according to Federal Communications Commission data compiled by Kantar Media.

Here are the weekly totals for the two major party candidates -- and groups airing TV ads on their behalf.

Pro-Northam/Anti-Gillespie

  • Northam for Governor - $1,596,233
  • People for the American Way - $26,998

Pro-Gillespie/Anti-Northam

  • Gillespie for Governor - $1,436,431
  • National Rife Association - $168,939
