Is the partisan divide deepening in Virginia?

See for yourself with this map that shows the increase in precincts where gubernatorial voters were sharply divided from 2013 to 2017.

The maps show a 40% increase this year in the number of precincts with 40+ point spread between the Republican and Democratic candidates for Governor, compared to 2013.

The number of precincts that sharply favored the Republican jumped from 359 to 512. The number of precincts that sharply favored the Democrat jumped from 368 to 511.
