New Virginia Candidates
VPAP has added 8 names to its unofficial list of candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives, State Senate, and House of Delegates.

U.S. House of Representatives
Herb Jones (D) is running for the seat now held by Rep. Rob Wittman (R). CD 1 includes parts of central Virginia, Hampton Roads and the Northern Neck. VPAP rates this a “leans Republican” district where voters gave Republican Gov. Youngkin an estimated 57.8% of the vote in November 2021.
Jeff Jordan and Kezia Tunnell are seeking the Republican nomination for the seat now held by Rep. Don Beyer (D). There are five candidates in the. CD 8 includes Alexandria, Arlington County, Falls Church and a portion of Fairfax County. VPAP rates this a “strong Democratic” district where voters gave Democrat Terry McAuliffe an estimated 72.2% of the vote in November 2021.
Jim Myles is the fourth candidate running in the Republican firehouse primary for the seat now held by Rep. Gerry Connolly (D). CD 11 includes Fairfax City and most of Fairfax County. VPAP rates this a “strong Democratic” district where voters gave Democrat Terry McAuliffe an estimated 64.3% of the vote in November 2021.
State Senate
Former delegate Lashrecse Aird is challenging Sen. Joe Morrissey for the Democratic nomination. Virginia Smith is also running in the Democratic primary. SD 13 includes all of Charles City, Prince George, Sussex, and Surry counties, and parts of Dinwiddie and Henrico counties. It also includes Hopewell and Petersburg. VPAP rates this a “leans Democratic” district where voters gave Democrat Terry McAuliffe an estimated 56.4% of the vote in November 2021.
Former delegate Hala Ayala is seeking the Democratic nomination. Former delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy is also running. The newly drawn district does not have an incumbent. SD 33 includes parts of Fairfax and Prince William counties. VPAP rates this a “strong Democratic” district where voters gave Democrat Terry McAuliffe an estimated 62.8% of the vote in November 2021.
House of Delegates
Rachel Levy (D) is running for the seat in a newly drawn district that does not have an incumbent. Philip Strother (R) is also running. HD 59 includes most of Louisa County, western Hanover County and a small portion of Henrico County. VPAP rates this a “leans Republican” district where voters gave Republican Gov. Youngkin an estimated 63.0% of the vote in November 2021.
