New Virginia Candidates
In the last month, VPAP has added eight names to its unofficial list of candidates running for the House of Delegates.

State Senate
Senate District 1
James Bergida (R) is the fourth candidate seeking the GOP nomination for this open seat in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. SD 1 includes the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Shenandoah and Warren, as well as the City of Winchester. VPAP rates this a "strong Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 68.14% of the vote last November.
House of Delegates
House District 27
Atoosa Reaser is the second candidate seeking the Democratic nomination. HD 27 stretches along the eastern part of Loudoun County, near Dulles Airport. VPAP rates this a "leans Democratic" district where Democrat Terry McAuliffe won an estimated 59.7% of the vote in the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
House District 48
Chance Trevillian (D) challenging incumbent Del. Les Adams (R-Chatham) for the Southside Virginia seat. HD 49 includes Martinsville and portions of Henry and Pittsylvania counties. VPAP rates this a "strong Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 67.8% of the vote last November.
House District 53
Sam Soghor (D) is the first candidate to announce for this open seat. HD 53 includes all of Amherst County and portions of Bedford and Nelson counties. VPAP rates this a "strong Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 73.3% of the vote last November.
House District 64
Leonard Lacey (D) is the first candidate to announce for this open seat, which includes a portion of Stafford County. VPAP rates this a "leans Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 56.5% of the vote last November.
House District 65
Joshua Cole, a former Democratic delegate, is the candidate to announce for this open seat. HD 56 includes Fredericksburg and portions of Stafford and Spotsylvania counties. VPAP rates this a "competitive" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 50.9% of the vote last November.
House District 99
Melissa Lukeson (D) is challenging incumbent Del. Anne Ferrell Tata (R) for the seat, which includes part of Virginia Beach. Tata’s current district accounts for about 80% of the voters in the new HD99. VPAP rates HD99 a "leans Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 58.5% of the vote last November.
House District 100
Nancy Guy, a former Democratic delegate from Virginia Beach, is the third candidate running for this seat. Redistricting paired two Republican incumbents — Del. Tim Anderson (R-Virginia Beach) and Del. Rob Bloxom (R-Accomack) — in this district. HD 100 includes all of the Eastern Shore (Accomack and Northampton) and a portion of Virginia Beach. VPAP rates this a "leans Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 58% of the vote last November.
