New Virginia Candidates
In the last week, VPAP has added seven names to its unofficial list of candidates running for the State Senate and House of Delegates this November.

State Senate
Senate District 13
Angela Rowe joins state Sen. Joe Morrissey (D-Richmond) and former Del. Lashrecse Aird in seeking the Democratic nomination. Eric Ditri (R) is also running. SD 13 includes Hopewell and Petersburg, as well as the counties of Charles City, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex. It also includes portions of Dinwiddie and Henrico counties. VPAP rates this a "leans Democratic" district where Democrat Terry McAuliffe won an estimated 56.4% of the vote in November 2021.
House of Delegates
House District 20
Caleb Max is the first Republican to announce for the seat. Incumbent Del. Michelle Maldonado (D-Manassas) is also running. HD 20 includes the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park and part of Prince William County. VPAP rates this a "leans Democratic" district where Democrat Terry McAuliffe won an estimated 55.3% of the vote in the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
House District 27
Christopher Harnisch is the first Republican to announce. Atoosa Reaser and Kannan Srinivasan are seeking the Democratic nomination. HD 27 stretches along the eastern part of Loudoun County, near Dulles Airport. VPAP rates this a "leans Democratic" district where Democrat Terry McAuliffe won an estimated 59.7% of the vote in the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
House District 29
Michelle Thomas joins Marty Martinez in seeking the Democratic nomination for the district that includes part of Loudoun County. VPAP rates this a "leans Democratic" district where Democrat Terry McAuliffe won an estimated 55.3% of the vote in the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
House District 30
Geary Higgins (R), who had been running for the Senate, is making a bid for this House seat. Max Sawicky (D) is seeking the Democratic nomination in this district that straddles the Fauquier-Loudoun line. VPAP rates this a "leans Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 56.5% of the vote in November 2021.
House District 34
Esther Nizer is the first Democrat to announce for this district, which VPAP rates “leans Republican.” Incumbent Del. Tony Wilt (R-Harrisonburg) is seeking to return to the House. HD 34 includes Harrisonburg and part of Rockingham County. In the 2021 governor’s race, Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 58.7% of the vote.
House District 51
Eric Zehr is challenging Del. Matt Farriss (R-Rustburg) for the GOP nomination in this district, which includes portions of Bedford, Campbell, and Pittsylvania counties. VPAP rates this a "strong Republican" district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin won an estimated 79.2% of the vote in November 2021.
