Freitas announced her campaign in February and continues to say she would be a more conservative representative than Hanger. She lives in Culpeper County where she served on the local GOP committee and served as Vice President and then President of the Republican women in Culpeper.

The Tina for Virginia campaign had an ending balance of $50,867 as of March 31, according to the Virginia Department of Elections. More than a majority of her campaign funds came from the largest donation of $50,000. That came from Chris Ruffer, the founder of the California-based company The Morning Star Company.

Tina Freitas announced her 24th Senate District campaign for the Republican party nomination Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Augusta County Courthouse.

The winner of the primary will face Democratic candidate Annette Hyde in the November general election.

20th House District

The 20th District representative will represent parts of the counties of Highland, Augusta and Nelson. It also includes the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro.

Dave Bourne and John Avoli will vie for the party nomination at the primary election.

Bourne is a Augusta County businessman and president of the Virginia Bail Association.

Individuals who work for bail bonds companies in Indiana and North Carolina also donated to his campaign, according to The Virginia Department of Elections.

Dave Bourne has been a bail bondsman for over 20 years and has an office across from the jail in Verona.
