A battle is brewing in Washington after several Republican members of the House revolted against GOP leadership.

Eleven House Conservatives blew up an effort to advance several bills by voting them down alongside Democrats.

The bills were related to gas stoves and regulatory reform.

Some speculate the GOP lawmakers were trying to send a message to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy after he cut a deal with President Biden to avoid a debt default.

Many Republicans accuse McCarthy of folding to Biden and that the deal promotes more frivolous spending.

One of those 11 lawmakers serves Central Virginia.

We caught up with Congressman Bob Good (R-5th District) on Wednesday on why he and other lawmakers voted down the bills, and what it means for the party moving forward.

He said the party was unified and exceeding expectations prior to the debt ceiling agreement.

"Tuesday's vote against the rule was putting the brakes on the House operating business as usual which the American people cannot afford, the country cannot afford from a fiscal standpoint or otherwise and so we're forcing things back to the table," Good said.

Good said he and other colleagues view the agreement as a breach of the Republican agenda.
