Move over Katy Perry — pop legend Carole King played on Sunday night at a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton hosted by Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and his wife Dorothy.

The Natural Woman played four tunes — including the apropos “You’ve Got a Friend” — for the 525 guests at the “BBQ Celebration” at the McAuliffes’ home in McLean (BET founder Bob Johnson and Rep. Steny Hoyer  were among the VIPs in attendance). Pop princess Perry might be the glitziest musician in Clinton’s corner, but longtime ally King has been steadfast, performing at a 2014 Dem women’s rally and filming an ad for the Democratic front-runner during the New Hampshire primary. And she helped to open wallets for the former SecState: the minimum donation to attend the event was $1,000.
