Justin Wilson, a three-term council member who is challenging Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg in the June Democratic primary, won the endorsements Friday of the city's previous two mayors.
Wilson announced his candidacy in November and reported raising $34,000 through the end of December. Silberberg, who also has been raising money and announced her plans to seek a second term, reported $6,757 in her campaign account as of the end of 2017. Her formal campaign kickoff is scheduled for Feb. 11.
Those seeking to run in the June 12 Democratic primary have until the end of March to file paperwork in the voter registrar's office. At least 10 Democrats have already said they plan to run for the six council seats.
Republicans, who usually face an uphill electoral battle in strongly Democratic Alexandria, have not yet announced any candidates.
