GEAR FILES SUBPOENAS ON HAMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

Former state lawmaker Tom Gear has filed subpoenas on 11 people — including Hampton's entire City Council — to appear at his hearing next week on a charge of trespassing. Gear, a former state delegate and one-time council member, was charged with trespassing last week after being escorted out of a City Council meeting for refusing to stop demanding that Mayor Molly Joseph Ward answer a question about the Hampton Police's cigarette sting. "Molly Ward wants to play games," Gear said. "Let the games begin."

POLICE ESCORT TOM GEAR OUT OF HAMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Former state Del. Tom Gear was ushered out of the Hampton City Council chambers Wednesday evening after he repeatedly asked Mayor Molly Joseph Ward when she learned about an undercover cigarette sting recently made public by the Daily Press. Public speakers are given three minutes to address the City Council. When Gear’s allotted time expired, he continued to question the mayor about the sting. She did not answer his questions.
