Old and new faces vie for Central Virginia General Assembly seats

Daily Progress (Metered Paywall - 25 articles a month)

It’s a big year for General Assembly races in Virginia, with every seat in the House of Delegates and the Senate — 140 in all — up for grabs. This November is also the first general election for the newly redrawn House and Senate districts, which were reworked in the wake of the last census. The new plan has split a number of voting precincts between districts. In Albemarle, the Free Bridge precinct is divided between two House districts, while Woodbrook, Jack Jouett and Stony Point precincts are split between Senate districts. Of the 12 races in Central Virginia, half have candidates running unopposed.
