Democrats tap Sam Rasoul to run for Onzlee Ware's seat

Roanoke Democrats on Saturday nominated Sam Rasoul to run against Republican Octavia Johnson in January’s special election to fill Del. Onzlee Ware’s seat representing the 11th District in the Virginia House of Delegates. Rasoul edged out Roanoke Councilman David Trinkle by 44 votes in the four-way firehouse primary. Trish White-Boyd, a local Democratic organizer and owner of a home health care agency, came in with 522 votes, while Trinkle’s colleague on the city council, Court Rosen, finished with 462.
