Delegate Ed Scott has no regrets

When Republican Del. Ed Scott decided not to seek a seventh term representing the 30th District in early February, the announcement caught many constituents off guard. “I am totally at peace with my decision,” said Scott, as he reflected in an interview in his Culpeper office. “This decision was made for all the right reasons.”

Freitas gets Republican nomination

The Culpeper Republican candidate for the 30th District House of Delegates seat has received his party's nomination. Iraq War veteran Nick Freitas was the only GOP candidate to pre-file for the 30th Legislative District Convention so he automatically got the nomination. He said he was very excited to get the official nod, according to a news release Tuesday.

Culpeper Democrat announces candidacy in District 30 delegates race

A retired air traffic controller has announced his candidacy for the 30th District seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. Democrat Stewart Risher, 54, of Rixeyville in Culpeper County, said he wants to bring a reasonable voice to Richmond. The Ohio native, in his first bid for elected office, said this is the year to do so.

Legislators hear local concerns

Local entities were given the opportunity to present their legislative priorities to state officials during the Orange County Chamber of Commerce Joint Legislative Conference last week. Delegate Ed Scott and Senator Bryce Reeves were among the guests at the conference and dinner held at DogwoodVillage. Eight speakers from the county presented the legislators their concerns before legislative session begins next month.
