Toscano to seek sixth term as delegate

State Del. David J. Toscano, former Charlottesville mayor and current House minority leader, will seek a sixth term. Toscano, D-Charlottesville, made the announcement Thursday morning. In all likelihood, according to a local expert on state politics, he’ll face no serious challengers.

Bell, Toscano speak on ABC, Medicaid expansion, sexual assault at legislative forum

Dels. David J. Toscano, D-Charlottesville, and Rob Bell, R-Albemarle, called for the state to strip the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of its law enforcement powers at a legislative forum Wednesday afternoon. ABC, Medicaid expansion and sexual assault were among the topics the legislators discussed with residents during a question-and-answer session hosted by the Senior Statesmen of Virginia at the Senior Center in Albemarle County.

House Democrats hope to 'create dilemmas' for Republicans

Democrats in the House of Delegates will try to make Republicans in the more competitive districts cast politically sensitive votes in the 2015 General Assembly session that starts Jan. 14. House Minority Leader David J. Toscano, D-Charlottesville, recently urged members of the House Democratic Caucus in a strategic memo to “create dilemmas for our Republican colleagues, especially those in targeted seats.”
