Shifting Sources of House Campaign Funds

This visual shows how the mix of campaign donations to major party candidates for the House of Delegates has shifted over time.

Note: In this visual, a donor can fit into only one category. Donations from businesses and Virginia-based political committees are given their own categories because they can be difficult to define as in/out of state. For instance, companies headquartered elsewhere can have substantial operations in Virginia. And political party committees based in Virginia can receive donations from outside Virginia and redistribute them here. Donation amounts are for two year periods, the election year and the year preceding the election year. Excluded are in-kind mail contributions from state party or caucus committees.
