Summary

As Introduced. Protective order in case of family abuse; termination of temporary order of child support.

Provides that when a court includes a temporary child support order with the issuance of a protective order in the case of family abuse, such temporary child support order shall terminate when a court determines child support in a subsequent proceeding or when the protective order expires, whichever occurs first. Current law requires that such temporary child support order terminate only after a court determines child support in a subsequent proceeding. This bill is a recommendation of the Judicial Council of Virginia and the Committee on District Courts. (Less)
