Crossover 2024

Just over half of the bills introduced this year survived crossover. With Democratic control in the House of Delegates, the pass rates for each party's bills have swapped places from last year - fewer than 1-in-3 Republican bills made it out of the House. Party success rates in the Senate were nearly unchanged.

"Crossover" is the General Assembly's deadline for bills to pass out of their chamber of origin to be considered by the other chamber. From this point forward, the House may only consider bills passed by the Senate and the Senate can only consider bills passed by the House.

A chart showing how many bills were introduced in each chamber, and how many crossed over.
