Pillion Wins House Seat in 4th District
Republican Todd Pillion will be joining the House of Delegates for the 2015 General Assembly session, after defeating Democrat Donnie Rife 66%-34% in a 4th District special election Tuesday.
Pillion will replace Ben Chafin, who resigned the seat after being elected to the Senate in August.
Turnout was the second lowest of the eight General Assembly special elections held in 2014. Around 7,000 people, less than 13.5% of registered voters in the district, voted in the special election.
Campaign finance disclosures filed on Dec. 1 had Pillion outspending Rife by more than ten to one.
Pillion's victory will give Republicans a 67-31 majority in the chamber, with two seats to be decided on Jan. 6th.
