Change in VaNews Content Policy
The following notice was sent this morning to the more than 7,500 subscribers of VaNews.
The content policy for VaNews is to include ALL newspaper articles about Virginia politicians. With the selection of Senator Kaine as the Democratic vice presidential nominee, the challenge for VPAP is to square this policy with an exponential increase in the volume of copy about Kaine.
Our solution is to add a section to VaNews called "Kaine Nomination." This is where we will run articles about his appearances outside of Virginia (public events and fundraisers) and background/investigative stories, particularly those involving his record as Governor. We hope this will streamline the number of articles in the existing "Federal Elections" section about the presidential and congressional races.
To be clear, this policy is not motivated by "favorite son" boosterism. Rather, it is driven by our desire to help you, the reader, navigate what promises to be an unprecedented volume of newspaper articles. This same policy will apply in the future to any Virginia official -- Republican or Democrat -- who becomes a major party nominee for President or Vice President. Read entire VaNews Conent Policy
Thank you for your patience and understanding as our team works through these changes. Our singular concern is making VaNews work better for you.
As always, I welcome your feedback, kudos and criticism. I'd love to hear from you.
