VPAP's Home Page Redesign

On August 11, the vpap.org home page will have a fresh, updated look.

The new home page is designed to be more mobile-friendly and to give first-time visitors a clear path to content that is relevant to them.

To all who have come to love vpap.org the way it is — don’t worry. The changes are limited to the home page itself and the location of the site navigation menu. The rest of the site will look and feel exactly the same. vpap.org contains all the same information and the overall structure of the website has not changed.

Here are the features you’ll see in the redesign:

HOME PAGE

  • Modern and mobile. The home page is now organized as a series of horizontal bands that work well on phones.

  • A clear focal point. The design provides a clear path for first-time users to enter their address and receive a wealth of political information about their community.

APIL

  • More relevant links. Look for “Trending from VPAP” links that lead to content related to the latest in Virginia politics.

  • For the non-experts. There are new landing pages that provide a basic introduction to Elections and Money in Politics, our site’s two coredata sets.

NAVIGATION MENU

For longtime users, the biggest change may be the location of the navigation menu. The menu options (Elections, Money, General Assembly, etc.) have not changed. But they are no longer displayed in a horizontal blue band across the top of each page.

Now, users will access the navigation menu by clicking on the three bars in the upper left corner of each page.

As we strive to expand our audience, we want to ensure vpap.org includes content that is meaningful and relevant to people from across Virginia who may be new to politics.

We value the thousands of regular visitors, many of whom have been using our site for many years. We ask for your patience and understanding as you adjust to the new look.

We believe you’ll come to appreciate vpap.org’s refreshed design. If you have any questions or feedback, please email webmaster@vpap.org or call our office at 804-353-4300. We’d love to know what you think.
