New Virginia Candidates
In the last week, VPAP has added three names to its unofficial list of candidates running for the House of Delegates.
If you have any additions, deletions or corrections, please contact webmaster@vpap.org.
House of Delegates
House District 31
Republican Delores Oates, a member of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, is running for the seat now held by Del. Wendy Gooditis (D). HD 31 includes all of Clarke County, and parts of Warren and Frederick Counties. VPAP rates this a “strong Republican” district where voters gave Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin an estimated 67.6% of the vote in the November 2021 governor's race.
House District 73
Del. Roxann Robinson (R-Midlothian) announced she plans to seek re-election in HD 73, not HD 76 where she resided at the time new maps were drawn in December. Robinson’s move to HD 73 sets up a potential three-way GOP primary with Mark Earley Jr. and Ryan Harter. This leaves an open seat in HD 76. HD 73 includes part of Chesterfield County. VPAP rates this a “leans Republican” district where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin received an estimated 57.1% of the vote in the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
House District 81
Democrat Terrence Walker is the first candidate running for the open seat. HD 81 includes all of Charles City County, and parts of Henrico and Chesterfield counties. VPAP rates this a "strong Democratic" district where voters gave Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe an estimated 62.1% of the vote in the November 2021 gubernatorial election.
