Self-Funding Candidates
While he has generated headlines with a $12 million personal loan to his gubernatorial campaign, Republican Glenn Youngkin is hardly the first candidate for statewide office in Virginia who funded a chunk of his or her own campaign. This is particularly true for candidates in nomination contests.

Methodology: Threshold set at candidates who raised a minimum of $10,000 and at least 10% of total amount raised was from self financing. Links to the candidate are a list of donations directly from the candidate and do not include any donations from their immediate family members or companies.Â
