House Pre-Primary Fundraising Totals: 2001-2025
Current Virginia Delegates have raised more than $20 million through the pre-primary reporting period, the most since VPAP began tracking money in legislative races. See how fundraising this cycle from incumbents, challengers, and candidates running for open seats compares to past elections.
Notes: Includes fundraising for the period starting January 1 of the year before the election through the pre-primary filing deadline of the election year. 2011 totals are through June 30, 2011 since primary elections were held later in the year due to redistricting. Dollar amounts for past cycles have been adjusted for inflation. "Challengers" includes candidates running in an election in which a sitting legislator is also running. "Open Seats" includes candidates running in districts with no incumbent. Candidate list as of 6/12/2025.
The 2023 elections were the first House of Delegates elections held in districts drawn using Virginia's newly established redistricting process, created by a 2020 Constitutional Amendment. The final maps drawn by the Supreme Court of Virginia resulted in many sitting legislators being drawn into the same districts, leading to an unusually high number of open seats that year.
