12th Seat May Have to Wait

With the state's population barely keeping pace with the national average during the last decade, Virginia is not expected to be among those states that will add seats in the U.S. House of Representatives following the 2020 Census.

If congressional seats were reapportioned based on 2019 population estimates. Virginia would continue to have 11 U.S. House seats for the next decade. Reapportionment will be based on the 2020 Census, which will be released next year.
