BIG NEWS: Our campaign has been named one of the DCCC's #RedtoBlue races this year!
We're up against a self-proclaimed "bright red" Republican challenger - Bob Good - whose platform goes far to the right of the current Congressman. He's even to the right of President Trump. With fringe views on abortion, immigration and even healthcare, it's clear that Mr. Good would be a bad fit for our district. .
I'm so proud to be the Democratic nominee in Virginia's Fifth Congressional District, but also proud to have the opportunity to represent the true values of a district as diverse and dynamic as ours. From day one, I set out to run this race the way that I plan to represent this district—through listening and leading. I am focused on building a coalition of supporters who know that the time is now to make sure that everyone has real opportunities for health and success.
But winning this race goes beyond rallying my neighbors to help me beat Mr. Good—it goes well beyond the boundaries of our district. Even though VA-05 has been recognized nationally as a Red to Blue district and the likelihood of a Democratic win is even higher, I still know that I certainly can't do it alone. I need every Democrat in this district and beyond to come together and support my campaign as we head into the homestretch.
