Summary

As Introduced. Campaign finance; direct contributions from corporations and business entities prohibited; limitations on use of certain funds by political action committees.

Prohibits any corporation or business entity that has not established and is not acting as a political action committee pursuant to Article 4 (§ 24.2-949 et seq.) of the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act of 2006 from making any contribution to a candidate or campaign committee. The bill also prohibits candidates and campaign committees from knowingly soliciting or accepting any contribution from any corporation or business entity. The bill also prohibits political action committees established and administered by a business entity or corporation from making a contribution or expenditure utilizing business or corporate funds obtained in any commercial transaction. All political action committees are prohibited from making contributions or expenditures by utilizing money or anything of value secured by physical force, job discrimination, financial reprisal, or threat of force, job discrimination, or financial reprisal, or as a condition of employment. The bill defines "business entity" as limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships, or business trusts, and "corporation" as domestic or foreign stock corporations or nonstock corporations.
